I remember a long time ago. I was living in Istanbul at the time, asking my friend, the fabulous Robert, whether I looked any slimmer after losing a few kilos in weight. It only takes Robert a fleeting look to catch: what you are wearing, the source of each item and tuck away mental notes that he may use later. So, when his reply was, ” honestly, you look no different, you are short” I knew that I was getting the straight unabridged answer.
So, if it is not about appearance, then why any attempt to lose weight? I would like to say for my health ( small factor), suggested by my doctor (not), or a promise I had made to myself (what’s new?)
None of these. This time it is to get in to a wetsuit, bought in a very narrow shopping window over Christmas and with no opportunity to return. It took assistance from my eldest brother, Pete, to successfully tease my body mass in to that suit, and knowing that Pete, my personal dresser, would not be with me in March, when I would wear nothing but this wetsuit, immediate action was needed to lose some weight.
Since this body bending moment I have shed 5 kg. 10lbs in old money.
Has this been easy? Well, yes, sort of, but only because I have completely changed my personality, and I would bet, indeed bet a lot of money, that this is only temporary state.
The weight loss factors have been:
Excercise every day
No alcohol
No meals out
No food before 9am and after 5pm
No visitors
No visits
No friends
No…no….no……..
Yes, I can now get in to that wetsuit, but on my return from my travels I am buying shares in the wonder drug, Wegovy, and returning to the real me.

Bravo Kate. Shows what you can do when you put your mind to it. You are an inspiration!
Looking forward to your next trip.
Haha love this post. If nothing more than the mention of, my Dad, as your personal dresser!! 🤣
So, you are in the wet suit. Wahoo! It is amazing what we do, for many a reason in the weight game isn’t it. My latest is understanding the foods that agree with your body make-up. Far nicer than Wegovy shares or syringes. Too much of a wimp for that 😵💫
5kg! Well done girl! You’ll be as sleek as a sea lion in the water!
Omg that’s incredible well done very jealous . Much love
5kg is a marvellous start but at what cost? Remember, it was never in anyone’s epitaph or written on any headstone – “could have lost a few pounds”
But clearly the rubber calls and you will soon be back to ‘great host, fun loving, always up for a drink and a good meal, party animal!’……no more ‘no’s’
Hope you have a wonderful time
love Alison
ps I remember the Robert looks – one glance and a thousand thoughts!
So,so true Alison. X
